TurTur ("the App") is a dive logging and planning tool for iOS built by Nautical 22 Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the App handles, where it is stored, and how it is used.
The App does not collect or transmit personal information to any server. All data you enter remains on your device. This includes:
The App does make anonymous requests to third-party services to display weather information and background imagery on the launch screen. No personal data is included in these requests. See Section 6 for details.
The App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with a compatible dive computer. The connection is local and peer-to-peer. No Bluetooth data is transmitted to us or any third party.
The App may request access to your device's precise location, but only when you explicitly tap the "Use my location" button (crosshair icon) next to the Location field on the dive details screen. Location access is never requested automatically or in the background.
When you tap the button, your current GPS coordinates are reverse-geocoded on-device to suggest a place name (for example, "Sipadan Island, Malaysia") to pre-fill the dive site location field. You can edit or ignore the suggestion before saving.
No location data is stored beyond the current screen session, transmitted to us or any third party, or used for tracking or advertising of any kind.
When you attach a photo to a dive log, the App reads that image from your device's photo library or camera. Photos are stored only inside the App's private storage on your device and are never uploaded.
All dive data and settings are stored locally in a SQLite database inside the App's sandboxed storage on your device. This data is included in standard iOS device backups (iCloud Backup or iTunes/Finder) if you have backups enabled. We have no access to your backups.
When you open the App, the launch screen may retrieve weather information and a background image from third-party services over HTTPS. These requests do not include your name, location, dive data, or any other personal information. No user data is transmitted. Standard server-side logging (such as IP address) by those services may apply under their respective privacy policies.
The App does not share, sell, or transmit your personal data to any third party, advertising network, or analytics service. The only outbound action under your control is when you explicitly choose to export or share a dive card image using the iOS share sheet — at that point iOS standard sharing applies and is entirely under your control.
The display requests described in Section 6 do not constitute data sharing — no personal or user-identifiable information is transmitted.
The App contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising framework, and no tracking of any kind.
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Because no data is collected at all, there is no risk of unintended collection from any age group.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
